I'm Gaby Meadley the owner of Mum's the Word.
My Practice's mission is to provide accessible treatment to adult clients as well as parents in the perinatal period and early years (to age 4) of parenting. I hold a Bachelor of Psychology with Honours and a Master of Clinical Psychology with Distinction. I am registered as a Clinical Psychologist with AHPRA and Medicare.
Along with additional training in the treatment modalities I use, I have additional skills and training in Perinatal and Infant Mental Health and am an Accredited Eating Disorders Clinician.
I work with adults presenting with mood disorders; anxiety disorders; eating disorders; complex trauma; difficulties with regulation of emotions such as anger; interpersonal and relationship difficulties; adjustment to changed roles in life; grief and loss; parenting challenges; and pregnancy-related issues. I have experience in Adult, Perinatal, and Child and Family services. I was employed as a psychologist in the Karitane Toddler Behaviour Management Clinic where I undertook intensive training to become a fully certified Parent-Child Interaction (PCIT) Therapist.
Individual adult work draws on CBT, Schema Therapy, DBT, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, EMDR, Attachment-based interventions, and Trauma-Informed Care. Family therapy incorporates the child-carer relationship and is informed by attachment principles.
It is my overarching aim to collaborate with – and support – clients as they work towards their therapeutic goals such as symptom reduction, increased self-understanding, and enhanced ability to meet life challenges and manage interpersonal interactions effectively.
